From the one hour managers' course to Managing Safely, QQI Level 6, the TU Dublin diplomas and a Level 9 masters: what each level covers, who it is for and the legal duty that makes a manager need it.
Occupational health and safety management courses in Ireland run on a ladder, and most of the confusion around them comes from not knowing which rung a particular role needs. A line manager in a warehouse, a hotel general manager, the director of a construction company and a future safety adviser all search the same phrase and need four different courses. This guide lays out the ladder from the one hour online course to the Level 9 masters, says who belongs on each rung, and names the section of the 2005 Act that puts a manager's own name on the line.

Let's be honest with you. The internet is full of scam training websites and reviews no real customer wrote. That's why we do the opposite. Every review we have comes from a real person who took a real course with us. No fakes. No hidden feedback. They are all on Google Maps, where we can't edit or rewrite them. Be especially careful with scam websites showing reviews that appear to come from platforms such as Reviews.io. Reviews displayed on their own website may be fake, because the website owner can add, edit or fabricate them directly in the site code. Always verify the business on Google Maps instead. Today, we hold the No.1 spot across Ireland, with more real reviews than any other health and safety training company, built on 30 years of real work at honest prices. You don't have to take our word for it. Just tap the Verify us on Google button below and read every review. One last thing, friend to friend: scammers have recently created a website with a name very similar to ours. Our official name is Ireland Safety Training, while a website called "Ireland Safety Courses" has appeared in Google Ads. It is not affiliated with us in any way. Our lawyers are already collecting the necessary evidence and preparing legal proceedings. Until then, please stay careful and always verify who you are dealing with.

Training for the people who run safety rather than only follow it: the legal duties, the risk assessment and safety statement, training planning, consultation, incident investigation and performance measurement. In Ireland it runs from a one hour online course for supervisors to a Level 9 masters for heads of safety.
Section 10 of the 2005 Act requires training appropriate to the person's role and Section 80 makes managers personally liable for offences committed through their neglect. Together they make management training the practical minimum for anyone who directs the work of others, even though no regulation names a specific course.
The online health and safety course for managers and the risk assessment course. They cover the duties, the documents and the method, take about an hour each and issue CPD certified certificates immediately.
Managing Safely is a three to four day professional course for line managers, recognised across Ireland and the UK. A QQI Level 6 award is a qualification on the National Framework, longer and assessed, and is what employers and tenders ask for when a role names a level.
For a dedicated safety officer or adviser role, most Irish employers ask for a Level 7 or Level 8 qualification. For a line manager who owns safety as part of a wider job, the awareness and Managing Safely rungs are what is expected.

This health and safety training for managers was shaped around the reality of running things: back to back meetings, unplanned problems and a to do list that never quite closes. Every module streams on any device, every pause remembers your place, and nothing needs installing. Real workplaces, clear photographs and video lessons turn the 2005 Act, the risk assessment method and nineteen hazard topics into knowledge that surfaces exactly when a decision lands on your desk.
The syllabus follows what Irish law expects of the people who direct work: understanding the duties, assessing the risks people actually face, and running the controls that keep every hazard down, from fire and machinery to stress and safety culture.
One certificate for a promotion or a rollout across the whole leadership team, the manager training moves without friction from registration to certificate.
A classroom management safety course costs days out of the business, travel and cover for every manager attending, and it rarely fits the diary of people who cannot simply disappear for two days. The online health and safety course for managers deletes all of that. Managers certify from the office or home, at their own pace, starting the minute you enrol them.
Owners watch completions arrive in real time and can hand an auditor the full competence record in seconds. Add the automatic volume discounts and this becomes the most economical accredited manager training in Ireland.
The price is honest too: one figure covers all nineteen modules, unlimited retakes and the instant health and safety for managers certificate. Nothing extra, ever.
Fixed course dates do not survive contact with a manager's calendar. The self paced manager course moves at whatever speed suits you, pausing on any device and resuming exactly where you stopped, before the morning meeting, over lunch or after the last email.
A clear progress bar shows how much health and safety management training remains and how close the certificate sits. Some managers clear it across a weekend; others spread it over two weeks of quiet half hours. Both routes end in the same certificate.
Assign it to a leadership team and everyone slots it around their own diary without the business skipping a beat, a big part of why Irish employers come back to Ireland Safety Training year after year.
No waiting, no processing queue. The instant you pass, the digital health and safety for managers certificate generates, aligned with Irish legislation and recognised across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
It stays in your account permanently, ready to re-download for audits, tenders, insurance renewals and job applications, and its unique verification code confirms it for anyone in seconds.
For a business, each certificate is dated evidence that the people directing the work are competent to do it, exactly what counts if an inspector, a client or a court ever asks.
Every module is authored by licensed, Chartered (CMIOSH) consultants working daily with Irish health and safety law and Health and Safety Authority guidance.
It shows in the details: the safety statement taught as a living document rather than a filing exercise, risk assessment walked through with the situations managers actually meet, from a new machine on the floor to a driver on a tight schedule, and the people topics, stress, bullying and violence at work, handled with the same seriousness as machinery guarding. Practical judgement runs through each lesson.
The content is re-checked against current legislation and the General Application Regulations 2007, so nothing in the course goes stale.
The platform never closes, which matters for the people who lock up last. Open the manager training after the evening handover, continue at lunch tomorrow and finish on a quiet Friday, whatever shape your week takes.
Progress syncs across devices automatically, so swapping from desktop to phone mid module costs nothing. Early starters, shift managers and weekend duty holders all get the same premium experience.
Teams can reopen the risk assessment module before an audit or the fire safety module when the layout changes, turning the manager course into a reference that keeps earning its place.
Ireland Safety Training has certified more than 749,500 learners across Ireland, the UK and Europe, holding a 98% pass rate and a 4.9 star average from verified Google reviews we cannot edit or hide.
From Dublin to Cork, Galway to Limerick and Waterford to Belfast, our health and safety training for managers keeps Irish businesses compliant and keeps the people inside them safe.
Employers return because it simply works: tidy records, instant certificates and a support team that actually answers.
Every organisation with someone directing work, because the law places the duty squarely on the employer and the people acting for it. The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 requires risk assessments, a safety statement and the information, instruction, training and supervision that keep people safe, and managers are the ones who deliver all of it. Waiting until an inspector or an accident asks the question is the one approach the law never forgives.
In practice our learners are site and operations managers, production and warehouse supervisors, hotel and retail managers, care home leads, office managers, HR professionals, and the owners and directors who carry the duties personally.
If people look to you when something needs deciding, this course was written for you, and our Irish support team will happily help roll it out across every manager you have.
From the one hour managers' course to Managing Safely, QQI Level 6, the TU Dublin diplomas and a Level 9 masters: what each level covers, who it is for and the legal duty that makes a manager need it.
Section 8 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 places the duties on the employer, but Section 80 says that where an offence is committed by a company with the consent or connivance of, or is attributable to any neglect on the part of, a director, manager or similar officer, that person is guilty of the offence as well. Section 78 sets the penalties on indictment at a fine of up to three million euro, imprisonment for up to two years, or both. A manager who has never been told what the risk assessment, the safety statement and the training duty require cannot show they exercised the care the section expects. That is the reason management training exists as a tier of its own, above the awareness courses the whole workforce takes.

The rungs are cumulative in practice, not in law. Nothing stops a director from enrolling directly on a diploma, but every rung above the first assumes the reader already knows what the first teaches, and the first is the one the Act expects of every manager now, not in two years.
An awareness course teaches a worker to recognise and control the hazards of their own task. A management course teaches the system around the worker: how the Section 19 risk assessment is carried out and recorded, how the Section 20 safety statement turns it into responsibilities and resources, how training is planned and evidenced under Section 10, how consultation with employees and the safety representative works under Sections 25 and 26, how to investigate an incident and report it to the HSA under the 2016 reporting regulations, how to manage contractors, and how to measure whether any of it is working. The management system guide describes that structure in full; the courses on the ladder teach people to run it.
The online managers' course is CPD certified and accepted as the awareness tier for management by employers, insurers and at HSA inspection, where it answers the question "what training have your managers had". IOSH courses are recognised across Ireland and the UK. QQI awards sit on the National Framework of Qualifications and are what public sector tenders and larger employers ask for when a role names a level. The diplomas and degrees are the qualifications job advertisements for safety officers and advisers name. None of the higher rungs removes the duty for the whole workforce to hold the awareness courses; a manager with a diploma still has to arrange manual handling for the warehouse.
Consent, connivance or neglect puts a director or manager personally in the dock beside the company.
Awareness, Managing Safely, QQI Level 6, diploma, degree and masters: one for each kind of role.
Every supervisor and manager can hold the managers' course and risk assessment training this week.
The accredited Health and Safety Course for Managers is rung one of the ladder, online in about an hour with a CPD certified certificate the moment you pass; pair it with the risk assessment course and the higher rungs have a foundation to stand on.
