Confined Spaces Awareness Course Built on the Law, Not on a Slideshow
People die in confined spaces every year, usually because the danger was not recognised or the arrangements were not in place. A large share of those deaths are would be rescuers who went in after them. This Confined Spaces Course is written line by line against that law, so the certificate you download at the end stands up in a real inspection instead of just looking good in a folder.
An honest awareness course. It gives you the legal framework and the recognition skills, and it does not pretend to qualify you as an entrant, attendant or supervisor. That needs further competency based training, and we will point you to it.
- Confined Spaces Regulations 2001, as amended 2003
- Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005
- Permit to work systems
The three rules that shape your training
-
2001 Regulations
Avoid entry where you can
Entry must be avoided where the work can reasonably be done another way. That is the first control, not the last resort.
-
Safe system of work
If entry cannot be avoided
A safe system of work based on risk assessment must be in place, covering isolation, atmospheric testing, ventilation, communication and protective equipment.
-
Rescue arrangements
In place before anyone enters
Adequate emergency and rescue arrangements must exist before entry. Unplanned rescue attempts are the reason confined spaces kill in pairs.
