What the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations are, why the term is used across Ireland, and the Chemical Agents Regulations that carry the same duties in Irish law.
COSHH stands for the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations, the United Kingdom law, first made in 1988 and now the 2002 Regulations, that requires employers to assess and control exposure to hazardous substances. The term is used every day in Irish workplaces, on training certificates and in tender documents, because it is short and universally understood. Ireland has no regulation called COSHH; the same duties live in the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Chemical Agents) Regulations 2001, and they implement the same EU directives.

Let's be honest with you. The internet is full of scam training websites and reviews no real customer wrote. That's why we do the opposite. Every review we have comes from a real person who took a real course with us. No fakes. No hidden feedback. They are all on Google Maps, where we can't edit or rewrite them. Be especially careful with scam websites showing reviews that appear to come from platforms such as Reviews.io. Reviews displayed on their own website may be fake, because the website owner can add, edit or fabricate them directly in the site code. Always verify the business on Google Maps instead. Today, we hold the No.1 spot across Ireland, with more real reviews than any other health and safety training company, built on 30 years of real work at honest prices. You don't have to take our word for it. Just tap the Verify us on Google button below and read every review. One last thing, friend to friend: scammers have recently created a website with a name very similar to ours. Our official name is Ireland Safety Training, while a website called "Ireland Safety Courses" has appeared in Google Ads. It is not affiliated with us in any way. Our lawyers are already collecting the necessary evidence and preparing legal proceedings. Until then, please stay careful and always verify who you are dealing with.

Control of Substances Hazardous to Health, the title of the UK regulations on hazardous substances at work.
Not as legislation. Ireland applies the Chemical Agents Regulations 2001 and the Carcinogens Regulations 2001, which impose the same duties. The term COSHH is widely used in Ireland for hazardous substance training and assessments.
Employers must inform, instruct and train employees who work with hazardous chemical agents under Regulation 11 of the Chemical Agents Regulations, so training on hazardous substances, commonly called COSHH training, is required wherever they are used.
Earning your coshh certificate in Ireland could not be simpler. Register, work through the coshh training course online at your own pace, pass the assessment and download your accredited certificate instantly, wherever you are across every county in Ireland.

Local employers know exactly what they are looking at when your certificate arrives: CPD Certified, RoSPA approved, HSA aligned training from a provider used by businesses across every county in Ireland. The unique verification code on every certificate makes checks instant, whether you work in Dublin, Cork or Galway.
For businesses, the free Employer Dashboard turns a team rollout into one afternoon of work: bulk registration, live progress and every coshh certificate in one clean screen, with automatic volume discounts applied at checkout.
This COSHH training course was designed around real working schedules: shift patterns, site hours and no spare afternoons. Every lesson streams on any device, every pause saves your place, and nothing needs installing. Clear visuals, five dedicated video lessons and interactive exercises turn hazardous substances, routes of entry and the hierarchy of control into knowledge you can actually use on the floor.
The syllabus tracks exactly what the HSA expects wherever hazardous chemical agents are used or generated: understanding the hazards, controlling exposure, reading Safety Data Sheets and knowing what to do when something goes wrong. Examples come from real Irish workplaces, from kitchens and salons to garages, sites and wards.
Whether you need your own certificate for a new job or you are certifying a whole team, the COSHH training flows without friction from registration to certificate.
A classroom COSHH course means lost work days, travel and cover costs, often across several staff at once. The online COSHH course removes all of it. Staff certify from home or the workplace, starting the moment you enrol them.
Managers see each completion in real time and can show an inspector the complete training record in seconds. Stack the automatic volume discounts on top and this becomes the most economical accredited COSHH training available in Ireland.
Pricing is honest: one figure covers the full course, unlimited retakes and the instant COSHH certificate. No add ons, ever.
Working schedules leave no room for fixed course dates. The self paced COSHH course lets you move at whatever speed suits, pausing on any device and resuming exactly where you left off, before a shift, after work or on the commute home.
A clear progress tracker shows how much of the chemical safety training remains and how close the certificate is. Some learners finish in one focused sitting; others spread it across a few breaks. Both work perfectly.
Assign it to your team and they will slot it around the rota without disrupting work, one of the main reasons Irish businesses return to Ireland Safety Training year after year.
There is no waiting around. Pass the assessment and the digital COSHH certificate is generated on the spot, aligned with Irish legislation and recognised across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
It lives permanently in your account for re-download during HSA inspections, job applications, tenders and insurance renewals, and its unique verification code lets any inspector confirm it instantly.
For career progression, a COSHH certificate is proof of chemical safety competence that employers in catering, cleaning, beauty, engineering, construction and healthcare ask for by name.
Every module comes from licensed, Chartered (CMIOSH) consultants who know exactly what Irish inspectors check on inspection day.
That experience shows: routes of entry explained with real cases, control measures that work in a busy workplace, Safety Data Sheets decoded line by line and storage rules that prevent the accidents inspectors see most often. Real Irish workplace examples make each lesson practical rather than academic.
Content is re-reviewed against current Irish legislation and HSA guidance, including the Code of Practice for the Chemical Agents Regulations, so the COSHH course never drifts out of date.
The platform never closes, which matters when your working week barely does either. Start the COSHH training after work, continue before a shift and finish on a day off, whatever rhythm your week allows.
Progress syncs across every device automatically, so switching from phone to laptop mid module is seamless. Shift workers, kitchen staff and site crews get exactly the same premium experience.
Teams can also reopen the hazard pictograms or the Safety Data Sheets module before a new chemical arrives on site or an audit lands, turning the COSHH course into a living safety reference rather than a one time event.
Ireland Safety Training has certified more than 749,500 learners across Ireland, the UK and Europe, with a 98% pass rate and a 4.9 star average from verified Google reviews we cannot edit or hide.
From Dublin to Cork, Galway to Limerick and Waterford to Belfast, our chemical safety training keeps Irish workplaces compliant and people safe.
Businesses come back because it simply works: clean records, instant certificates and a support team that answers.
Almost every business. The Chemical Agents Regulations apply the moment any hazardous substance is used or generated in a workplace, and that includes cleaning chemicals, cooking fumes, dusts from sanding or baking, welding fumes, solvents, sprays and gases. The Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act 2005 requires employers to provide the information and training needed to work with them safely.
In practice, the people taking this course with us are cleaners, chefs, hairdressers, nail technicians, mechanics, welders, printers, farmers, factory operatives, construction crews and healthcare staff, plus the owners and managers responsible for their safety.
If your workplace has a single bottle of industrial cleaner, this training is for you, and our Irish support team can help roll it out across every location.
What the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations are, why the term is used across Ireland, and the Chemical Agents Regulations that carry the same duties in Irish law.
Substances hazardous to health in any form: chemicals and products containing them, cleaning agents, paints, solvents, adhesives, pesticides, fumes from welding and soldering, dusts such as flour, wood and silica, mists, gases, vapours, biological agents such as bacteria and viruses, and any substance with a workplace exposure limit. Asbestos, lead and radioactive substances have their own regulations in both jurisdictions.
Assess the risk from every hazardous substance used or created at work. Prevent exposure where reasonably practicable, by elimination or substitution. Where it cannot be prevented, control it adequately, with engineering controls, work methods and, last, PPE. Keep exposure below the limit values. Maintain, examine and test the controls. Monitor exposure and provide health surveillance where needed. Inform, instruct and train employees. Plan for accidents and emergencies.
The Chemical Agents Regulations 2001, S.I. No. 619 of 2001, amended most recently in 2021, together with the Carcinogens Regulations 2001, impose these duties on Irish employers under the 2005 Act. Occupational exposure limit values are published in the HSA Code of Practice for the Chemical Agents Regulations, updated regularly. A COSHH course taken in Ireland teaches these Irish rules alongside the shared EU classification and labelling system.
Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations 2002.
S.I. 619 of 2001 as amended, with the same assess, prevent, control duties.
CLP labelling, REACH safety data sheets and the chemical agents directive apply in both.
