What the 2001 Regulations and the HSA Code of Practice require: avoid entry, safe system of work, competent persons, emergency arrangements and training.
Work in confined spaces in Ireland is governed by the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work (Confined Spaces) Regulations 2001, S.I. No. 218 of 2001, made under the safety legislation now consolidated in the 2005 Act, and by the HSA Code of Practice for Working in Confined Spaces which explains how to comply. The regulations apply to every employer and self employed person whose work involves entry into a confined space.

Let's be honest with you. The internet is full of scam training websites and reviews no real customer wrote. That's why we do the opposite. Every review we have comes from a real person who took a real course with us. No fakes. No hidden feedback. They are all on Google Maps, where we can't edit or rewrite them. Be especially careful with scam websites showing reviews that appear to come from platforms such as Reviews.io. Reviews displayed on their own website may be fake, because the website owner can add, edit or fabricate them directly in the site code. Always verify the business on Google Maps instead. Today, we hold the No.1 spot across Ireland, with more real reviews than any other health and safety training company, built on 30 years of real work at honest prices. You don't have to take our word for it. Just tap the Verify us on Google button below and read every review. One last thing, friend to friend: scammers have recently created a website with a name very similar to ours. Our official name is Ireland Safety Training, while a website called "Ireland Safety Courses" has appeared in Google Ads. It is not affiliated with us in any way. Our lawyers are already collecting the necessary evidence and preparing legal proceedings. Until then, please stay careful and always verify who you are dealing with.

The full syllabus covers everything the Confined Spaces Regulations 2001 and the HSA expect: identifying confined spaces, oxygen deficiency and enrichment, toxic and flammable atmospheres, gas testing awareness, ventilation, permits to work, safe entry procedures and emergency arrangements. Every module uses real Irish examples from utilities, farms and industry, so the lessons feel practical rather than theoretical.
Because the platform is cloud based, there is nothing to install and your progress is saved automatically. Whether you are a utility worker getting compliant for a new contract or a manager rolling out confined space training to an entire crew, the whole experience is smooth, fast and genuinely engaging.
Classroom confined space courses mean travel, lost work days and venue fees. Our online confined spaces course eliminates all of it. You can enrol at any time and start the confined space training immediately.

There are no hidden fees at any point. The price you see includes full course access, unlimited assessment retakes and the instant confined spaces certificate. One honest price, everything included.
Our self-paced confined spaces course is ideal for people working full time, on shift patterns or between sites. You can pause and resume modules on any device, making it easy to complete your confined space training in smaller sessions that fit around real work. This flexible approach helps learners stay focused, retain more information and complete the certification without pressure or strict deadlines.
The platform clearly tracks your progress so you always know how much of the confined spaces course is complete and how close you are to your certificate. Some learners finish in one focused sitting of about 2 hours; others spread it across two or three relaxed sessions. Either way, the pace is entirely yours.
Managers can assign the confined space training to staff and trust that everyone can fit it around daily tasks without disrupting operations, which is exactly why Irish employers keep coming back to us year after year.
As soon as you pass the assessment, your digital confined spaces certificate is generated instantly and ready to download or print. The certification is aligned with Irish legislation and industry standards, giving you a recognised confined space qualification accepted across Ireland, the UK and Europe.
Because your confined spaces certificate is stored securely in your account, you can re-download it anytime you need proof of training, during an audit, a site induction, a tender or an insurance renewal. Every certificate carries a unique verification code so employers, HSA inspectors and main contractors can confirm it is authentic in seconds.
For individuals, the confined spaces certificate is a strong CV credential for utilities, civil engineering and industrial maintenance work, where trained entry awareness is non negotiable.
Every module of our confined spaces course is written by licensed, Chartered (CMIOSH) health and safety consultants with NFQ Level 6 and QQI Level 6 qualifications and years of front line experience in Irish workplaces. You are not learning from a random voiceover; you are learning from some of the most qualified safety professionals in the country.
The confined space training blends clear theory, HD video, real life case studies and interactive quizzes. You will understand why an apparently empty tank can kill in seconds, how permits to work control entry, what gas testing involves and why untrained rescue attempts account for over half of confined space deaths. Real Irish examples make every lesson memorable and practical.
The content is reviewed regularly against the latest Irish and European legislation and HSA guidance, so the confined spaces course you take today always reflects current best practice.
With Ireland Safety Training you receive 24/7 access to your confined spaces course, so learning is always available when you are ready. Complete your confined space training during quiet periods on shift, from home in the evening or on the weekend, whatever suits your schedule best.
The learning platform automatically saves your progress, meaning you can log in from any device and continue exactly where you left off. Workers on nights, weekends or remote sites get the same premium experience as everyone else, every day of the year.
Crews can also quickly review the atmospheric hazards or permit modules before a scheduled entry, turning the confined spaces course into a living safety resource rather than a one off event.
Ireland Safety Training has earned the trust of over 749,500 learners across Ireland, the United Kingdom and Europe, making us one of the most established providers of workplace safety training in the region. Every day, new learners join us to complete the confined spaces course alongside Working at Heights, Manual Handling, Abrasive Wheels and dozens of other accredited programmes.
The numbers speak for themselves: a 98% pass rate, a 4.9 star average rating and thousands of verified 5 star reviews on Google Maps that we cannot edit, delete or hide. From Dublin to Cork, Galway to Limerick, Waterford to Belfast, our confined space training has helped keep Irish workers out of the country's most unforgiving hazard.
Businesses return year after year because our confined spaces course delivers results: consistent compliance, clean reporting and certificates that every employer recognises instantly.
If your work ever brings you into or near tanks, sewers, silos, shafts, pits or any enclosed space, you legally need confined space training. The Confined Spaces Regulations 2001 require employers to ensure that nobody enters a confined space without training, competence and a safe system of work, and the HSA enforces this strictly.
In real life, the people who complete our confined spaces course are water services and utility crews, construction and civil engineering workers, tank cleaners, maintenance fitters, farmers dealing with slurry pits and grain silos, brewery and food processing staff, telecoms workers in chambers and self employed contractors who need proof of awareness training for tenders and inductions.
Farm slurry pits alone claim Irish lives nearly every year, often two at a time when a rescuer follows. If your work touches any enclosed space, take the training, and our friendly Irish team is one message away if you want to double check which courses fit your duties best.
What the 2001 Regulations and the HSA Code of Practice require: avoid entry, safe system of work, competent persons, emergency arrangements and training.
Nobody may enter a confined space to carry out work unless it is not reasonably practicable to do the work without entering. Cleaning from outside, remote cameras, modified processes and better access designed in from the start are all expected to be considered first. Where entry cannot be avoided, the employer must ensure a safe system of work is in place and followed, based on a risk assessment carried out by a competent person.
The Code of Practice describes what the safe system covers: isolation of the space from pipes and power; cleaning and purging; testing and monitoring the atmosphere before and during entry; ventilation; respiratory protective equipment where the atmosphere cannot be made safe; suitable lighting and tools, intrinsically safe where flammable atmospheres are possible; communication between the entrant and the attendant; limits on working time; and a permit to work that records the checks and authorises the entry.
Nobody may enter or work in a confined space unless suitable and sufficient arrangements for rescue have been made. That means a rescue plan specific to the space, trained rescuers with the equipment to retrieve a casualty without entering where possible, breathing apparatus, first aid and resuscitation equipment, and arrangements to summon the emergency services. Rescue equipment must be maintained and rescuers must practise.
Everyone involved must be competent for their role: the person assessing the risk, the person issuing the permit, the entrants, the attendant at the entrance and the rescue team. Training covers hazards and specified risks, gas testing, respiratory protection, the permit system, communication and emergency procedures, and is refreshed regularly with practical rescue exercises.
The Confined Spaces Regulations, explained by the HSA Code of Practice.
Regulation 5: entry only when the work cannot reasonably be done from outside.
Regulation 6: no entry without suitable emergency arrangements in place.
The accredited Confined Spaces Course gives entrants and attendants the awareness the regulations demand, with a CPD certified certificate for the training record.
