The current resuscitation guidelines step by step: checking response and breathing, calling 112, thirty compressions and two breaths, compression only CPR and how a defibrillator fits in.
Cardiopulmonary resuscitation keeps oxygenated blood moving to the brain and heart of a person in cardiac arrest until a defibrillator and the ambulance arrive. Every minute without CPR cuts the chance of survival by around ten percent; CPR started immediately by a bystander can double or triple it. The steps follow the European Resuscitation Council guidelines used by the Irish Heart Foundation and PHECC.

Let's be honest with you. The internet is full of scam training websites and reviews no real customer wrote. That's why we do the opposite. Every review we have was written by a real person who took a real course with us. No fakes. No hidden feedback. They all live on Google Maps, where we can't edit, delete or hide a single word. Now we hold the No.1 spot across the whole of Ireland, with the best reputation in the country and more real reviews than any other health and safety training company, built on 30 years of real work at honest prices. You don't have to take our word for it. Just tap the Verify us on Google button below and read every review. One last thing, friend to friend: scammers have started copying our company name and registering look-alike domains that use "Ireland Safety" or "Irish" in the name. Those websites are not us. Please be careful, and check the reviews on Google Maps before you trust.

The current resuscitation guidelines step by step: checking response and breathing, calling 112, thirty compressions and two breaths, compression only CPR and how a defibrillator fits in.
Make sure the scene is safe. Check for a response: shake the shoulders gently and shout. If there is no response, open the airway by tilting the head back and lifting the chin, and look, listen and feel for normal breathing for no more than ten seconds. Occasional gasps are not normal breathing. If the person is not breathing normally, call 112 or 999, put the phone on speaker, and send someone for the nearest AED.
Kneel beside the casualty. Place the heel of one hand in the centre of the chest, on the lower half of the breastbone, and the other hand on top with fingers interlocked. Arms straight, shoulders over your hands, press down five to six centimetres and release fully, at a rate of 100 to 120 per minute, roughly two per second. Give thirty compressions.
After thirty compressions, tilt the head, pinch the nose, seal your mouth over theirs and blow steadily for about one second while watching the chest rise. Give two breaths, then return to compressions. Continue cycles of thirty to two. If you are unwilling or unable to give breaths, give continuous chest compressions; compression only CPR is far better than nothing.
For a child, start with five rescue breaths, then thirty compressions to two breaths using one or two hands to a depth of about one third of the chest. For an infant under one year, five initial breaths, then compressions with two fingers or two thumbs in the centre of the chest, one third of the chest depth, at the same 30 to 2 ratio.
Switch it on and follow the voice prompts. Expose the chest, dry it if wet, and apply the pads as shown on them. Let the machine analyse; do not touch the casualty. If a shock is advised, make sure nobody is touching them and press the button. Resume CPR immediately after the shock or if no shock is advised, and continue until the ambulance crew takes over or the person shows clear signs of life.
No response and no normal breathing means cardiac arrest. Start at once.
Thirty compressions, five to six centimetres deep, 100 to 120 a minute, then two breaths.
If you cannot give breaths, keep pressing. It saves lives.
The First Aid Course teaches CPR and AED use with clear video demonstrations, so you act without hesitation when it matters. CPD certified certificate on completion.
